Fiber Crafter's Gathering News

Art Classes for Adults

What’s your pleasure? Here’s your chance to relax and enjoy the company of others while you master a creative art. Below is our class lineup for the next few months. But, be sure to check back regularly to see how courses change with the seasons. You may also wish to click for our seasonal weekend programs that usually include an art activity and can involve your entire family.

Have a suggestion? Holcomb Farm is always willing to entertain your suggestions for new adult art classes. Let us know what you’re looking for by emailing etanasi@holcombfarm.org. Or, care to teach others? We’re looking for new arts and crafts instructors, too.

Fiber Crafter's Gathering News

The main room in the afternoon at Holcomb Farm is a perfect place to create.  The sun shines in the large windows and the natural light is wonderful to work in.  We listen to the sheep and ducks outside the barn as we share our thoughts and lives with each other, taking a coffee or tea break in between.  The phone doesn’t ring.

We’ve had four gatherings here at the Farm during November and December.  There have been an interesting assortment of fiber crafts represented even in the short time we’ve been together!  We’ve had rug hookers, both traditional and primitive, felting on bars of soap, hand sewing and a drop-in by a well-known Granby knitter who promises to come back soon with knitting in hand!

Elaine Tanasi, a member of the Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild based in Vermont, recently took a road trip to the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont, where the Guild hosts a rug hooking show each year in November.  The show is held in the Museum’s famous round barn and is an amazing and inspiring display of hand hooked items by members of the Guild.  Elaine took many photographs during her visit and brings the show to Holcomb Farm by way of laptop so that everyone can enjoy it.  Already new rug designs have been envisioned and drawn on backing!

We welcome anyone who works with fiber to join us.  We’ll be gathering at Holcomb Farm on Sundays, December 30, January 13, January 27, February 10, February 24, March 9 and 23 from 2-4 pm.  More dates to be announced later on.  Any questions please call Elaine at 844-8616 or email etanasi@holcombfarm.org.

Donation is $5 to benefit Holcomb Farm.

Please feel free to set up outside for plein air painting at the Farm during the summer.  There are a lot of beautiful views, both hidden and out in the open.  Check for art programs in the fall.
